Dr. MarQo “Jusreall” Patton is a professor of Music Business, vocalist, and writer currently residing in Nashville, TN. He is a graduate of Fisk University with a BS in Business Administration (Music Business concentration), and Lipscomb University with a Master's of Education in Instructional Practice and EdD in Learning Organizations and Strategic Change. His research explores creative efficacy in a digital and globalized era.
Dr. Patton was a member of the world-renowned Fisk Jubilee Singers®, traveling as a baritone, with notable performances at Carnegie Hall, The Kennedy Center, the White House, and the Ryman, as a guest soloist. Diverting from his industry training, Patton joined the Teach For America corps and taught at Nashville's first charter school, Smithson Craighead Academy K-4. As a tenured educator in K-12, he has acquired dual licensure in K-8 core subjects, 7-12 Business Education, and Music Business occupational licenses. He became one of the founding music business instructors, teaching at Pearl-Cohn Entertainment Magnet High School for six years. Pearl-Cohn is the home of the first student-run record label in the nation, Relentless Entertainment Group, where Patton serves as a business partner of their Academy of Entertainment Industry advisory board.
He has served as an intern for The Recording Academy-Nashville chapter, was featured on local news stations for teaching and speaking engagements, was a recipient of the inaugural Human Rights Rising Advocate award from the state of TN., was filmed as a mentor in the full-feature Documentary, All The Difference, produced by Emmy-award winning and Academy-nominated Tod Lending (Nomadic Pictures). Signed with The Hurd Agency, he has appeared in commercials across the nation.
Dr. Patton is a scholar who puts theory to practice! He has performed live and cut vocals for Chris Tomlin, Chris Stapleton, Mavis Staples, Rival Sons, Maren Morris, We The Kingdom, Kid Rock, Robert Randolph and the Family Band, Kaleo, SHANNON SANDERS and others, as well as for major film. Through Jusreall Music Group Global, LLC, Jusreall offers consultation to independent artists and creatives interested in self-publishing and creative development. In lecture, seminars and workshops, he uses music, research, and personal experiences to encourage others to serve with their gifts. Though he considers himself an artist, Dr. MarQo "Jusreall" values the import of great teachers and mentors, and encourages others in pursuit of their passions. He is fueled by his love for God, passion for music's impact, and belief in young people and their potential.
